iCOUNTER has appointed Ali Waezzadah as Chief Information Security Officer, adding a cybersecurity executive with more than two decades of experience to its leadership team.
Waezzadah joins from Frontier Communications, where he served as Chief Information Security Officer and helped lead the company's transformation before its acquisition by Verizon. He previously held security leadership roles at Kroll, CBS, and Paramount.
The Dallas-based cyber risk company said Waezzadah will oversee security strategy and governance programmes. He will also work with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders on threat-informed defence and risk management practices.
The appointment comes as iCOUNTER expands its work in third-party and supply chain cyber risk. The company focuses on identifying threats across vendors, suppliers, partners, and other connected systems.
Cybersecurity companies have increasingly sought executives with experience across both corporate and critical infrastructure environments as attacks on extended business networks and supply chains have become a more persistent concern for large organisations. Waezzadah's background spans critical infrastructure, media, government, and enterprise settings.
John Watters, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of iCOUNTER, said the appointment reflects the company's focus on helping clients respond to a changing threat landscape.
"Ali has spent his career helping organizations understand, anticipate, and manage risk in rapidly changing environments," said John Watters, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of iCOUNTER.
"He brings the rare combination of operational experience, strategic leadership, and deep technical expertise that organizations need as cyber threats continue to evolve. His perspective aligns perfectly with our mission of helping customers move from reactive defense to counter threat operations."
According to iCOUNTER, Waezzadah has also advised emerging cybersecurity technology companies, helping newer firms develop tools and services aimed at defending organisations against current cyber threats.
His appointment adds operating experience in industries that face both regulatory scrutiny and service continuity demands. Those sectors have become central to cyber defence efforts as companies assess not only their own systems but also the risks introduced by third parties.
iCOUNTER said its platform is designed to help organisations detect adversary intent early and assess risk across connected external networks. Its products span third-party risk intelligence, continuous monitoring, third-party detection and response, and counter threat operations.
Waezzadah described the sector as entering a period in which decision speed and the use of risk intelligence are becoming more important.
"The security industry is entering a period where decision speed, risk intelligence, and operational execution matter more than ever," said Ali Waezzadah, Chief Information Security Officer of iCOUNTER.
"iCOUNTER is building something fundamentally different: a company focused on helping organizations understand adversaries before attacks occur. I'm excited to join the team and help drive that mission forward."
Watters also pointed to Waezzadah's experience in both the operational and organisational sides of cybersecurity as the company builds out its leadership team.
"Ali understands both sides of the cybersecurity equation: what defenders need and how security organizations must evolve to keep pace with increasingly sophisticated adversaries," he said.
"As we continue to scale iCOUNTER and define the future of proactive intelligence, his leadership will be invaluable."
