Plaud has launched Plaud One Explorer Edition, a wearable AI earbuds product with a standalone case, marking its move from note-taking into AI-driven task execution.

The device is designed to record conversations across in-person meetings, calls, online discussions and spoken notes, either through the earbuds or the case. A built-in eSIM with 4G LTE keeps it connected without a phone or Wi-Fi, allowing recordings to be uploaded for transcription and summarisation as they are captured.

The launch expands Plaud's existing AI note-taking software and hardware business. The new device works with the company's Plaud Intelligence platform, which is designed to interpret spoken context and trigger tasks in third-party workplace tools including Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion and Slack.

At the centre of the system is what Plaud calls Plaud Agent, which uses conversational context to complete follow-up work. This includes drafting emails, preparing reports and generating other work documents based on recorded discussions.

Broader push

The launch reflects a wider race among AI companies to move beyond transcription, search and chat interfaces into software that can carry out workplace tasks on a user's behalf. Plaud's approach treats conversation as the main source of intent, rather than typed prompts or manual app inputs.

It also points to a shift in how AI hardware companies are trying to define practical use cases. While several recent wearable AI products have struggled to gain traction, Plaud is targeting professionals whose daily work depends on meetings, calls and verbal exchanges.

Plaud says the device creates a continuous layer of context that can connect decisions across meetings and help prepare follow-ups and briefings. Repeated use is also intended to improve the system's understanding through accumulated memory and context.

The updated software platform includes workflow tools called Skills and role-specific workflow collections called Plugins. These features are designed to guide how tasks are executed, while generated outputs, which Plaud refers to as Artifacts, can be edited, shared or exported.

Pricing and rollout

Plaud One Explorer Edition is priced at USD $249.99 and is available for pre-order in selected markets. Buyers in the Explorer programme will receive USD $200 in Plaud credits to use across eligible software features and services, without needing a separate membership plan.

The related Plaud App 4.0 software update is also due to roll out across Plaud's existing products. The update will introduce a redesigned interface and make the new Plaud Intelligence functions available more broadly across its device range.

Plaud says it has more than 2,500,000 users worldwide since launching in 2023. Based in San Francisco, the company has built its profile around products that capture and organise spoken conversations into structured notes.

It gave several examples of how the new product could be used at work, including drafting client follow-ups after meetings, preparing briefings before appointments, turning workshops into reports and assembling weekly summaries for internal teams.

A key issue for Plaud and its rivals will be whether users are comfortable wearing always-available recording devices in professional settings. Products that turn spoken conversations into actions must also address concerns around privacy, consent and the handling of sensitive business information, particularly when recordings are uploaded to and analysed through cloud systems.

Plaud says its systems meet a range of security and privacy standards, including ISO 27001, ISO 27701, GDPR, SOC 2, HIPAA and EN 18031. Those credentials are likely to matter as the company seeks adoption among business users handling regulated or confidential material.

"AI agents become truly useful when they understand the context in which human intent is formed," said Nathan Xu, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Plaud.

"That context lives in conversation. Plaud One brings agents closer to the real-world work people do every day, while Plaud Intelligence gives them the context and capabilities to act. We are opening the Explorer Edition because interfaces are proven in the field, and shaped by the people who put them to work," Xu said.
