Telxius has integrated its content delivery network with Synamedia's Quortex Switch platform, allowing content providers using Telxius to adopt a multi-CDN distribution model.

Customers can now switch between content delivery networks through Quortex Switch, a software-as-a-service platform for managing multi-CDN systems. The integration is intended to help content providers widen distribution and manage streaming traffic across different networks.

Traffic control

Multi-CDN strategies have become more common as streaming companies look to reduce dependence on a single delivery provider and improve resilience during spikes in audience demand. They also give operators more flexibility to route traffic based on network conditions and commercial terms.

For Telxius, the deal adds its CDN to a platform that steers content according to quality of experience and cost. The system supports switching between CDNs during playback and is built on industry standards, avoiding changes to existing video players or apps.

Global network

Telxius said its CDN is integrated with its Tier 1 IP backbone and broader network estate, which includes nine submarine cable systems, terrestrial backhaul links spanning more than 100,000km, 100 points of presence, and 26 landing stations and data centres worldwide.

Those assets are central to its pitch to media and content customers. Telxius said direct integration between its CDN and backbone gives it end-to-end control over traffic delivery and allows it to expand infrastructure quickly across its delivery network.

Platform launch

Synamedia launched Quortex Switch in 2025 as a cloud-based product for designing and managing multi-CDN environments. The platform also supports disaster recovery and can onboard new CDNs through open-standard application programming interfaces.

Both companies are targeting content providers that need to reach large international audiences while maintaining service continuity. Telxius also noted that it acts as an IP transit provider for several internet service providers, giving it access to millions of users worldwide.

"Our carrier-grade CDN leverages our extensive global infrastructure to deliver superior performance, reliability, and security. Now, with the addition of Quortex Switch, our content provider customers will be able to take their streaming services to the next level, enhancing the QoE for streaming viewers as well as end-to-end control," said Mónica Martínez, Chief Marketing Officer, Telxius.

"Telxius already has a strong position and by choosing to partner with us to deploy Quortex Switch for its content provider customers, it is increasing the value of its offer and extending CDN reach to new markets," said Edward Allfrey, General Manager of Video Network, Synamedia.
