Global Cloud Xchange rebrands to FLAG with new focus

Yesterday

Global Cloud Xchange (GCX) is undergoing a rebrand to FLAG, with a focus on its long-term goals, including increased investment in subsea, edge data centres and cable landing stations across more geographies.

FLAG, recognised as one of the largest privately owned subsea cable operators in the world, offers high-speed digital connectivity and flexible capacity solutions across Asia, India, the Middle East, Europe, and the USA. Their infrastructure consists of seven interconnected subsea cable systems and six terrestrial cables, enabling them to cater to a wide range of clients, including hyperscalers, telecom carriers, and OTT content providers.

Carl Grivner, CEO of FLAG, stated: "FLAG represents our renewed commitment to global connectivity. Working closely with our clients, we are constantly upgrading and expanding our network to stay at the forefront of technological developments and meet evolving market demands. This ensures our clients receive the most advanced connectivity solutions, enabling them to scale, secure and optimise their data in an increasingly interconnected world."

The rebrand will see the Managed Services division continue under the name of GCX Managed Services, maintaining continuity amidst the change. The company's end-to-end solutions include flexible leased capacity, dark fibre, and Layer 2 & 3 services, positioning it as a key player in supporting global telecommunications infrastructure.

FLAG operates in over 180 countries and focuses on delivering high-performance connectivity through its diverse network, providing route redundancy and mission-critical dataflow protection, particularly in hard-to-access regions. Its services are engineered for optimal reliability, availability, and continuity, and include modular data centres designed for high-performance computing and storage needs at the network edge and cable landing stations.

The company's strategic priorities include strengthening its subsea capabilities, particularly in the Middle East and intra-Asia regions. As FLAG moves forward, it aims to meet the growing demands of data traffic, driven by burgeoning content, artificial intelligence, and digital services.

Grivner continued, "This rebrand of FLAG allows us to move forward with a clear vision and the flexibility to innovate and invest in our infrastructure in ways that provide unparalleled value to our customers and partners. With strong backing from our Board and 3i Infrastructure we are committed to delivering market-leading, high-performance solutions across the globe."

Supporting FLAG's ambitions is a newly structured management team comprising experienced professionals such as Brice Evin as Chief Financial Officer, Brad Kneller as Chief Network Officer, Paul Abfalter as Chief Sales & Revenue Officer, Nadya Melic as Vice President – Product and Marketing, and Asif Ghani as Vice President – Edge Data Centre Services. The collective leadership also includes Edward Parkin as General Counsel, Giancarlo Ferro as Chief Information Officer, and MU Khan as Vice President of Human Resources.
